Amy Lacombe is an American jewelry designer and the founder of the Whimsiclay brand. This brand produces ceramic animal figurines, mostly cats.
She began her career in 1983 as a designer of handmade porcelain jewelry. She sold her products in large department stores, online stores, and catalogs.
In 1994, she began creating cat figurines with her “signature whiskers” — flexible wires with decorative ceramic tips. According to Amy, her creative ideas came from her husband, children, her own cats and dogs, and from nature.
In 2001, Whimsiclay cat figurines were first sold in gift shops.
