Vintage Boyds Bear and Friends brooches by American company Boyds Collection Ltd.

The brand’s history began in 1979, when Gary and Justina Lowenthal, owners of an antique shop in Boyds (Maryland), began creating polystone bear figurines. The first bear was named Matthew in honor of their son.

For many years, Boyds Collection produced products in the form of figurines, frames, mugs, brooches, soft toys and more. New series were released annually – thematic and festive.

In 1996, the official Boyds Bears fan club was created, whose members were entitled to discounts and limited collections. The company’s toys have received many awards, including “Doll of the Year”, “Golden Teddy” and others.

In 2008, Boyds Collection was sold to Enesco, and in 2014, Boyds Bear production was discontinued.

In 2024, the brand was revived, and a new collection of 12 bears was presented as part of the Boyds Bears 45th anniversary celebration.
