2019 marks the 135th anniversary of the founding of one of the most famous jewelry brands in the world, Bvlgari.

The huge business began with a small silver processing business owned by the Bulgaris family in Greece. Due to wars with the Ottoman Empire, the shop had to be closed, but young Sotirios, the son of a jeweler, leaves no hope of continuing the dynasty. He opened his first shop in 1884 in Rome. Very soon, several more boutiques appeared, and their creator changed his surname to a more Italian one. So Sotirios Bulgaris became Sotirio Bulgari.

BVLGARI BRAND HISTORY

The first Bvlgari store sold not only jewelry, but also silver items that reminded of Greek roots. After the business passed to the sons of Sotirio, they focused on jewelry made of gold and platinum, richly adorned with stones. Following fashion, Bvlgari produces beautiful art deco jewelry, transformable jewelry and develops the floral theme that the public has loved.

The successors of the family business Constantino and Giorgio Bulgaris turned out to be creative and ambitious people. They decided that Bvlgari should have its own style, that it was time to move away from the trends dictated by Parisian jewelers.

The first legendary creation of the House was the Serpenti watch. Inspired by the story of Cleopatra, Bvlgari created a bracelet that looped around the wearer’s hand several times like a snake. This accessory served as the basis for an entire collection and showed that the Italian brand itself is capable of dictating the fashion for jewelry.

Further more! In the 50s and 60s, the house produced En Tremblant brooches, the corollas of flowers on them were attached to tiny springs and trembled with every movement. New principles for the selection of stones, the choice of cutting uncharacteristic for that time, symmetry and compactness Bvlgari created its own unique style, which is now called the Italian jewelry school.

In the 1970s, more than 250 Maison boutiques opened around the world.

Today, watches, perfumes, accessories are produced under the Bvlgari brand, there are even hotels and restaurants.
In the middle of the last century, trends were not learned on the Internet, but were closely watched by celebrities. In this sense, the legendary women have made a great advertisement for Bvlgari.

Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn they all happily accepted a precious scattering of bright stones as a gift. Elizabeth Taylor not only wore them in life, but also on the screen. For the role of Cleopatra in the film of the same name, the actress wears luxurious emerald Bvlgari earrings.

Luxury that’s what has remained unchanged over the years of the House. And today, for carpet paths, many stars choose Italian design.

A few years ago, the company was acquired by the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy concern, but representatives of the Bulgari family, the grandchildren of the same Sotirio, remain at the helm.

BVLGARI JEWELERY

In keeping with the demands of the times, Bvlgari offers a variety of jewelry that can be worn every day. At the same time, the House does not forget about the traditions that oblige jewelry to be bright, massive and fabulously expensive House Bvlgari real patriots of Italy and fans of ancient culture. Most of their collections in one way or another recall this. It all started, as we remember, with the snake Cleopatra. Later, jewelers decided to perpetuate Roman coins in precious metal. This is how the Monete collection was born.

Most of the women’s models are in a feminine or retro style. Thin straps, small dials and a lot of decor. I prefer the Bvlgari collection.

As for men, there is more choice. Proper chronographs with leather and metal strap.
