The Cross collection by Greek designer Christina Subli is fast becoming one of her bestsellers. The filigree technique of her popular Dentelles line prompted the designer to use these stylish small details to create large and small cross pendants.
“Filigree is my signature technique and it also allows me to add volume without adding weight. It’s nice to be able to create large pieces that are easy to wear,” she says. The new small openwork crosses, according to the designer, “sell very well” and offer something minimal with a twist for those who like restraint.
The jeweler uses natural diamonds, pearls and colored gemstones such as tourmalines to highlight the cross motif. The central motif so far varies between square, oval and circle.
Perhaps you would like more diamonds on a custom made cross? Special cut stones in the center or circles of rubies and emeralds? “Because all my pieces are handcrafted in Greece, I can create them to order and according to special requirements,” adds the Athens-based designer.
If you can’t get your hands on an ornate Christian Lacroix crucifix like Rihanna’s, then your best bet is to create your own layered look with a collection of filigree crosses.
