Elizabeth Johnson became interested in lampwork and began working with glass in 1990, and in 1998 she was able to open her own studio. It all started with a trip to the Italian city of Murano, where Elizabeth admired the collection of glass insects by Vittorio Costantini.

Now Elizabeth Johnson creates the best glass jewelry in the world using the lampwork technique: berries and fruits. Even the smallest details are worked out in them.

Elizabeth Johnson: “I grew up in a large agricultural part of New England. My father is an avid gardener and we always had our own cattle, eggs and milk. I spent most of my childhood churning milk into butter or feeding chickens. Constant access to nature allowed me to enjoy the beauty of leaves, berries and flowers from an early age.”

When the artist created her first jewelry, it looked so natural that many were surprised: how come this necklace does not stain clothes? Only upon closer inspection did they notice that the ripe berries and leaves were made of glass. A supporter of naturalness and realism, Elizabeth Johnson follows them in creating unique jewelry. Her creations continue to win admirers all over the world.
