Elvik & Co is a Norwegian manufacturer of antique silver and enamel jewelry. The value of this company’s products among collectors stems from the use of high-quality materials and the craftsmanship involved.

The company was founded by Nils Erik Elvik (1853–1935), a talented Norwegian jeweler. His son, Nils Martin Elvik (1887–1948), later took over his father’s business.
The company was legally established in 1941 and was named after Edvard Elvik, who decided to honor the memory of his grandfather, the founder of a jewelry dynasty.

Initially, Elvik & Co sold the products of the family business, which included two production sites. After Nils Martin’s death in 1948, one of the workshops was closed, and the company transformed into a small workshop and store offering silver and enamel jewelry.
The company’s original location was at Storgaten 20, but production later moved to the Vindern district (since 1986) and then to Bryn, located in Oslo.

It’s interesting to note that without a close examination of the hallmarks, Elvik & Co jewelry is difficult to distinguish from the work of another famous Norwegian jeweler, Axel Holmsen. This is because Nils Martin Elvik was his apprentice from 1904 to 1907 and largely emulated the master’s style in terms of metalworking techniques, choice of materials, and design.

As a rule, the following hallmark elements can be seen on Elvik & Co pieces:
the initials “NE” in the shape of a horseshoe (a mark belonging to Nils Erik Elvik);
the letter “E” stylized as a cloud (a symbol used by Nils Martin Elvik and Elvik & Co).
In addition, the hallmarks may contain information about the country of manufacture – Norway, as well as the fineness of the silver used – 830 or 925.
