The first information about the English jewelry company Ciro dates back to 1916-1917, when Michael Joseph Goldman founded Ciro Scientific Pearl Co, Ltd at 42 Piccadilly in London. The company was engaged in mail order sales of accessories and jewelry made of cultured, and later artificial pearls, which became very popular among young women and girls, as well as movie stars of the time. In 1919, the company’s name changed to Ciro Pearls Ltd and the company’s office moved to 39 Old Bond Street.

Soon the first company store opened there. In 1923, the company’s head office moved to 178 Regent Street, and showrooms opened at 48 Old Bond Street and 44 Cheapside. The company was constantly developing, stores and offices began to appear first in other cities in Great Britain, and then in Paris and Berlin. By 1927, Sirot had also begun selling costume jewelry. The company’s jewelry was in steady demand due to the high quality of its design, materials, and construction. The company also continued to send items by mail through catalogs.

In June 1939, Sirot opened its first American showroom at 713 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The company worked closely with such American costume jewelry giants as Marcel Boucher, Trifari, Maser, Siner, and Svoboda. Trademark registrations for the company can be found in patent offices in various countries, the earliest of which date back to 1921-23. Below is a trademark published in the Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office on February 19, 1952.

A patent for a design for an airplane brooch was issued to Sirot of Bond Street, New York.

The company’s success and development continued until the mid-1990s. The brand was revived in 2006. Today, Ciro is best known for its line of cubic zircon jewelry. The company’s boutique is located on Burlington Arcade in London, where leading watch and jewelry boutiques, perfumers and fashion houses are represented.
