In 1854, the Gubelin (Gübelin) brand was founded in Lucerne, Switzerland – at that time it was a small watch workshop founded by Jacob Joseph Mauritz Breitschmid.

By the end of the 1870s, Eduard Jacob Gubelin became Breitschmid’s apprentice, and in 1899 he headed the company, giving it the name “House of Gubelin”.

Key milestones in the company’s development:
In 1903, a boutique was opened, and twenty years later – its own jewelry workshops.
1928 was marked by the opening of a specialized jewelry store and a mineralogical laboratory.

Gubelin’s grandson, Doctor of Mineralogy Eduard Joseph Gubelin (1913-2005), began in-depth research of minerals, which became the basis for the modern direction of gemology.
After the end of World War II, the company’s management passed to Eduard’s sons.

Today, the Gubelin brand is famous for its exquisite jewelry and gemological laboratory, which studies the origin and confirms the authenticity of colored gemstones.

The company adheres to the principle of using only natural materials, refusing to work with artificial stones.
