The German jewelry workshop of Heinrich Levinger, which operated in Pforzheim at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The company “Heinrich Levinger” was engaged in the production of jewelry, mainly made of silver with inexpensive precious stones, rhinestones and enamels. Art Nouveau jewelry with stained glass enamels became the company’s calling card.

The use of stained glass enamel in jewelry became a popular trend thanks to French jewelers, the trendsetters of jewelry fashion at that time. Therefore, it is often referred to by the French name Plique-a-jour, which literally means “to let daylight through.” This enamel has no backing and lets light through like stained glass. This is an extremely beautiful, complex and labor-intensive technique.
