The founder of the Beatrix Jewellery brand, Nathan Sugarman, laid the first stones of his empire in 1946, giving his brainchild the name of his sister Beatrice. At first, the company’s path was not easy.

In 1965, a fateful year for the brand, significant changes took place: Leonard Mandell, a former manager, became the new owner, leaving the name Beatrix Jewellery intact and radically rethinking the concept. His innovative step was to create brooches with themes of American holidays.

The “BJ” or “Beatrix” marking, which became the brand’s calling card, acquired a permanent character only by 1975. For two years (from 1975 to 1977), it was invariably present on the back of the products.

In 1977, Beatrix Jewellery came under the wing of Treasure Masters, where Leonard Mandell continued his management until his retirement in 1982. The activity of Treasure Masters itself ended a year later, in 1983.

Today, Beatrix or BJ jewelry with the appropriate markings occupy an honorable place among collectibles, actively included in specialized catalogs and guides for connoisseurs.
