In January 1937, 25-year-old Jacques Fath created his first Fashion House in Paris. In this small studio, he cut and sewed clothes with the help of two assistants. The outfits of Jacques Fath were presented by the lovely model Genevieve, who later became his wife.

In April 1944, Jacques Fath opened his Fashion House at 39 rue Pierre de Serbi in Paris. For decades, the address of the House remained unchanged.

1945 was the first year of the Jacques Fath fashion show. His collections were elegant, feminine and modern. Evening dresses by Jacques Fath seemed like a wonderful fairy tale: the superiority of the cut, the charm of folds and frills, and deep necklines continue to inspire designers today. Jacques Fath began a career that could make him as great as Christian Dior.

By 1954, the Jacques Fath company already had 700 employees. The clothes of Jacques Fath were preferred by movie stars and the aristocracy, and with each new collection he continued to gain worldwide recognition. He became the first French designer whose clothes were exported to the United States, where his name is still remembered to this day. Jacques Fath pioneered innovation in all industries: accessories, clothing, fragrances.

In 1945, Jacques Fath released his first fragrance, Chasuble, followed two years later by the legendary Iris Gris, followed by the classic Green Water, both created by the famous perfumer Vincent Ruber.

In 1950, Jacques Fath decided to found his own perfume company, and in 1953 he released two more fragrances – Canasta and Fath de Fath. Jacques Fath has had a huge impact on the fashion world; he designed outfits for Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and Rita Hayworth, as well as many other celebrities. Jacques Fath was the first, and perhaps the only one, to organize luxurious balls at Chateau Corbeville, which attracted the entire world elite. The success of Jacques Fath in Haute Couture was simply stunning. Among his assistants were Hubert de Givenchy and Guy Laroche.

In August 1949, in America, Jacques Fath was awarded the Neiman Marcus Award for outstanding achievements in the field of Fashion. His premature death at the age of 42 severed the threads from which the great empire was woven. Along with the collections of Christian Dior, the style and fashion philosophy of Jacques Fath symbolized the era of the “new look”. After the untimely death of the great creator, the reins passed to Jacques’ widow, who changed the profile of the company, which from now on was not engaged in Haute Couture, but exclusively in ready-to-wear clothing. In 2009, a book telling about the life and work of Jacques Fath was published in New York.
