The history of the family jewelry business of Konstantin Linke begins with Maria Linke, who registered her own silverware workshop and received a personal brand in 1866. In 1889, 36 workers worked in the workshop, and the annual turnover was 7 thousand rubles. Already in these years, the workshop of Maria Linke worked closely with Bolin’s firm.
In 1894 Maria Linke’s workshop passed to her son Konstantin, who qualified as a silversmith in 1883. Sometimes his name is erroneously given as Karl Linke. Products from Konstantin Linke’s workshop were sold not only in Bolin’s stores, but also by other famous jewelry firms, such as the Faberge firm.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Moscow firm V.A. Bolin” was on the rise. The firm’s artists, among whom were immigrants from France, brought a fresh breath of Art Nouveau to the firm’s style. Perhaps the wonderful Art Nouveau boxes created in the workshop of Konstantin Linke are made according to their drawings.
