By the end of the 19th century, the St. Petersburg firm “Bolin” became one of the most famous firms specializing in the creation of jewelry with precious stones. The firm’s customers belonged to the highest circles of the Russian aristocracy and the imperial family. The firm’s elegant jewels were also sold in Paris by houses such as Boucheron.

The Bolin firm had its own workshops in St. Petersburg and Moscow and staff, but also cooperated with other jewelry workshops that did not have their own trading house, but sold their products through large jewelry stores. In St. Petersburg, Bolin’s main partner was Vladimir Finikov, who is sometimes referred to as the unofficial chief jeweler of the firm.

Vladimir Yakovlevich Finikov, an outstanding goldsmith, owner of a jewelry workshop from 1880 to 1908, a native of St. Petersburg and an honorary citizen, came from a merchant family. His brother Vasily was an engraver and had his own engraving workshop.

Firm “Bolin” is not the only one with whom Vladimir Finikov collaborated. The jewelry of this master was taken for sale by other large jewelry stores, such as these cufflinks, which were sold in the store of the famous Moscow jeweler Orest Kurlyukov.
