Kultaseppa Salovaara is a Finnish company producing costume jewellery that began operations in 1953.

**Company background**

The brand was founded by **Veikko Salovaara**, a member of a family in which the skills of working with precious metals were passed down from generation to generation, traditionally engaged in this craft in the nearby city of Turku (Kaarinka).

In the period from 1960 to 1970, the company was one of the leaders of the jewellery business in Turku, with about a hundred skilled craftsmen on staff.

The unique symbol of the brand is an image of a polar bear against the background of an iceberg. In addition, the jewellery pieces had traditional Finnish hallmarks: an image of a crown, denoting Finland, a letter and number of the year of manufacture (for example, G7 for 1960, M7 for 1965), as well as the sign of the city of Turku.

In 1988, Veikko Salovaara retired and subsequently sold the company.

Kultaseppa Salovaara specialized in creating silver jewelry decorated with natural stones. Popular models include:

* Pendants with smoky quartz, pearls and tiger’s eye stones;
* Rings decorated with two cone-shaped tiger’s eye stones.
