Very little is known about the work of this company in the American costume jewelry market.

It is known that the company was founded in the late 40s of the last century by Arthur Pepper, but who he was and where he was from, where he lived, whether he had a family or a beloved woman, how many employees he had under his command – is absolutely unknown.

Very scanty information about the ART company (the accepted name among collectors of vintage jewelry due to the most famous and widespread ART stamp on later works) only gives us knowledge of its place of creation and location – New York. That’s all, there is no more reliable data about the company. Even the exact year of the company’s liquidation is unknown, it is assumed that ART worked in the early 70s.

If we compare the number of jewelry pieces with similar designs in the hands of collectors and dealers, we can conclude that the company’s heyday was in the mid-50s – 60s of the 20th century.

Truly, it was the “golden” age of costume jewelry!
The ART company produced jewelry in completely different styles, including the Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco eras.

The jewelry was mainly made in floral, fruit and leaf motifs, but there are also (albeit very rare) figures of animals and reptiles.
The incredible designs of “Maltese” crosses, the incredibly beautiful lines of jewelry made of small brooches in the form of flowers or fruits and vegetables with multi-colored enamels made ART jewelry very popular with the discerning fashionistas of that time. And, it should be noted, the housewives took great care of their “treasures”, otherwise there is no other way to explain the often excellent preservation of jewelry. Although, it should be noted, the materials used in ART jewelry are always of excellent quality!
