The history of the creation of the Nolan Miller trademark

Nolan Miller is a Texan designer who was born in 1933. Even as a small child, he dreamed of working with big film studios. He really wanted to create such jewelry in which every girl would shine brighter than the sun. Quite often, a young man ran away from home to the cinema to look at the lace cuffs with ruffled inserts and the long peplum that the actors’ costumes were trimmed with. Around that time, he made one promise to himself: by all means, he wanted to do the design of the image of Joan Crawford. In the future, he really managed to fulfill it.

After leaving school, Miller becomes an art student and begins to pursue his only goal. It consisted in becoming the best designer in the local film studio. But it so happened that when Miller’s studies were already beginning to end, and only a few months remained before graduation, the film studios for some reason began to close the design departments. Therefore, after receiving a diploma, Nolan began to look for a job not at all in his specialty.

After some time, he began working in one of the florist shops, which is located in Los Angeles. But he was lucky: it didn’t last long. Very soon, everything in his life will begin to take shape so that his dream will come true.

Since then, Nolan has had many private commissions.

For this reason, his own atelier was opened in 1957. Basically, it carried out tailoring for people who left private orders. Then this place became a mini-workshop where outfits for TV stars were created. And so the brand Nolan Miller, known today, appeared.

The designer opened his own corporation in California and immediately set about designing outfits and jewelry for Loretta Young, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Garbor, Lucile Ball, Natalie Wood, Jaclyn Smith, Joan Crawford, Linda Evans, etc.

In 1972, Spelling created his own studio. But for her full-fledged success, he instructed Nolan to design models of clothes and accessories for actresses who had to shine in every sense and from every angle. With his support, films such as The Love Boat and Fantasy Island appeared.

The turning point in the life of the master came in 1981.

In one of the films, experimental samples created by the designer were presented. Their feature was noticeably protruding shoulder pads, which dictated the fashion of the 80s. Products created by Miller, some stars, such as Diahann Carroll Joan Collins and Krystal Carrington, began to wear not only on set, but also in everyday life.

The master never created identical models of clothes. Therefore, each of the jewelry or dresses has always been a real exclusive. The budget that was usually allocated for the creation of costumes for the film was about 35 thousand dollars. Thanks to this, the genius could fully embody all his ideas and ideas.

Unfortunately, Miller passed away in 2012. Of course, he managed to pass on his skills and secrets to another generation. Each of the sketches made by the designer is kept with special care today, and the jewelry he created become real highlights in the collections of various collectors around the world.
