Providence Chain Company (originally called Providence Jewelry Company) is a jewelry brand based in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
The company was founded in 1935 by entrepreneur Abraham Lisker. Lisker dedicated his life to the production and sale of jewelry, giving up his career as a doctor.

In 1937, Abraham’s brother, Nathan, joined the business, and the company was renamed Lisker & Lisker.
During World War II, the company suspended production because Abraham joined the army and jewelry-making materials became scarce.

In 1944, jewelry production resumed, and the company changed its name to Jonette Jewelry Co. (simply “JJ”). The acronym stands for the names of Abraham and Nathan’s parents, John and Etta, who inspired him to create his unique collections. In 1972, Abraham left, and his son, Gordon Lisker, took over.

In 1986, the brand was renamed Artifacts, but the branding remained recognizable.
In September 2006, the company ceased operations due to intense competition and difficult market conditions.
Pewter, brass, copper, silver, enamel, and jewelry resins were used to create the jewelry. The same brooches were often made in silver, gold, and bronze.

A distinctive feature is the humor with which the jewelry is crafted. Animals, scenes from everyday life, and imaginative improvisations predominate in the design of the “JJ” brooches.
