Ilya Klyuev was born in 1977 in Moscow into a family of geologists.
In the late 90s, Klyuev realized that he wanted to devote himself to the jewelry business. In subsequent years, he studied gemology, adopted the experience of the best masters in Switzerland, Thailand and Hong Kong. All this led to the creation of the Cluev brand.
Jewelry brand Cluev has been producing jewelry with colored gemstones for years. The first workshops worked in Italy and Switzerland, but seven years ago all production facilities were transferred to Moscow. Every year, the brand produces 200-300 pieces of jewelry per year in a single copy.
Subsequently, the brand released collections inspired by the history and culture of the state, for example, “Ballets Russes” and “Romanovs”.
Today, Ilya Klyuev is mastering a new business – cutting. It is this direction, from his point of view, that would help revive the jewelry market of our country.
The jeweler opened a cutting workshop in Russia, in Smolensk. Unexpectedly for himself, he made an amazing discovery – in Russia it is very profitable and convenient to cut diamonds. After a trial purchase of diamonds worth $100,000, he received 200 diamonds. This brought the business to a new level and expanded the reach of buyers.
“Why not make a Russian brand that could offer jewelry with Russian diamonds to everyone? I decided to take on this mission. At the same time, the pandemic began, the borders were completely closed and the supply of colored stones and diamonds to Russia actually stopped. After all, no one can take the liberty of buying precious raw materials without seeing the stones with their own eyes.
It would seem that in this situation there is only one way out – to purchase diamonds cut in Russia. But the paradox is that there are diamonds in Russia, but there are no diamonds. That our country, the largest diamond miner in the world, from raw materials mined at $4 billion a year, granite at best $100 million The rest of the diamonds are exported, mainly to Belgium and the United Arab Emirates. several billion dollars a year,” Ilya Klyuev is convinced.
There was an idea to create a global platform for the sale of Russian diamonds for jewelry and investment called bestfriends (best friends). Here you can buy diamonds and order any jewelry with them without intermediaries, which will reduce the price by several times compared to the cost in chain stores.
Ilya Klyuev now has two projects: the first is the Cluev jewelry house, which last year, at the request of customers, turned into a closed jewelry club with unique opportunities for its members; the second project is to turn Russia into a diamond empire with the help of market place with unique opportunities for clients with any requests. Klyuev has a great desire to create a family company that his children will develop and turn it into a real dynasty.
