Stanislav Drokin – Ukrainian jeweler

There are not many jewelers in the world who create unique jewelry that is more like art objects, and therefore the discovery of a new name is always a great joy.

Stanislav Drokin is originally from Kharkov, began his career at the age of 15, in 1983 at a radio electronics plant, mastered two professions: a mechanic and an engraver.

Having an innate passion for drawing, he became interested in jewelry art and began to use his existing skills to make master models for one jewelry company. Without a specialized education in the jewelry industry, the subtleties of craftsmanship and production technology were mastered by him independently in the process of work.

In 1994, Stanislav opened a jewelry studio, simultaneously undergoing training and receiving diplomas in gemology and expert in cultural values.

From an interview with Stanislav Drokin:

– I use a variety of technologies, here are two innovative ones:
“sequential casting” or trace casting, this is when one piece of jewelry is assembled from several separately, sequentially cast parts that have an exact wax impression of the connection between their parts;

“hybrid casting,” or double (or more) casting, this is when one metal is cast into a mold with another metal, resulting in complex, three-dimensional parts with interweaving between metal elements that do not have soldering or welding connections;

– Now I am experimenting with porcelain casting and hybrid casting with titanium.

– If we talk about jewelry, it is important to consider their physical properties, color stability, and origin. I prefer unusual, rare, unique stones – for example, opals. It is impossible to find two identical opals. Opals occupy a special place in my life. They fascinate and inspire me. This is a microcosm, a universe reflected in stones.

-I like many stones, there is something special about them, they are alive, only they live for thousands of years. Therefore, we do not notice their changes in the blink of an eye in our lives.

-I divide my creativity into two directions – art and design. In both, I am constantly looking for new creative solutions.

– I am inspired by harmony, nature and the world around me. I am attracted to bionic forms and color in its various combinations. I find magic in this.

-I like to experiment with color, finding new emotions in its combinations. It is like alchemy, the creation of an elixir, perfume, as a result of which color combinations affect emotions, feelings, psychological perception.

-I like to work with metal. I am interested in its texture, I am interested in the search for new images, a combination of different metals or other materials.

-I like to experiment. I am constantly experimenting in different techniques, styles, trying to find something new, to discover new horizons in technical solutions and in design.

– I have works in design with an emphasis on stones, where the metal is only for the frame, and there are designer jewelry with an emphasis on metal, on its texture. I pay special attention to details.

– I try to be aware of what is happening in the world, what are the tendencies, trends. But at the same time, for me it is very important, fundamental to never copy, plagiarize, always remain yourself and look for your own path.
