The Dixelle brand was born about half a century ago in Pawtucket-Providence County, Rhode Island. The family business of Robert Stearns, known as the Dixelle Company, was officially registered on June 7, 1962 and was engaged in the distribution, sale and creation of jewelry and related accessories. The company’s activities ended in 2016. Interestingly, in the 1970s, Dixelle worked under different names: Robo, Inc. (since 1976), Sarmeste, Inc. (also since 1976) and Sammartino Bros. (since 1972).

Dixelle craftsmen created elegant pins, brooches and earrings in a classic style, using the filigree technique. The materials they favored were sterling silver, 12-karat gold, and semi-precious stones including jade, onyx, tiger’s eye, and moonstone. Faux pearls, crystals, and decorative glass were also used. Often, the jewelry came in elegant, signature boxes lined with silk and tapestry with intricate designs. Each box would be inscribed with the words “Dixelle” – 12 KGF or 12 sterling.
