Catherine Popesco is a Romanian-born French designer who produced jewelry based on antique Art Nouveau matrices. The company has been operating since the 70s of the 20th century.
Catherine Popesco jewelry could be mistaken for the originals of the 19th century, the proportions, lines, quality of materials, the basis of which is the author’s enamel, are so respected. The virtuoso handling of colored enamel undoubtedly puts Catherine Popesco on a par with the original works of Venetian masters and French court jewelers.
Catherine Popesco managed to buy a collection of antique stamps for the production of jewelry from the period 1900 – 1930. In Paris, she fell into the hands of real treasures stored in a warehouse. At the same time, Katerina Popescu herself collects Art Nouveau jewelry and, based on original old forms, made her collection using unusually luminous enamel.
An amazing property of enamel is its constantly changing color. The secret of the enamel has not yet been revealed, it is a dichrome enamel that shimmers in two colors – from dark to very light, while creating many more shades and color inclusions. The second secret is a virtuoso work that combines colored enamel with filigree silver, creating the complete illusion of gold. A special charm is given by Swarovski crystals, fixed using the pavé method in the base.
