Sunita Shekhawat is a jewelry designer from Jaipur, India. He works mainly in the traditional Indian kundan meena enamel technique. He jokingly calls himself “Indian Hermès” because of his perfectionism and innovation in traditional jewelry art.

Sunita’s works have appeared on the pages of fashion magazines and famous publications: Vogue (India), Harper’s Bazaar, New York Times, etc.

Jaipur jeweler Sunita Shekhawat specializes in 22 carat gold art enamel jewelry – kundan meena, bringing new life to traditional Indian jewelry with colorful and vibrant designs.

In Indian jewelry, the design is also applied to the part that no one sees. And that’s a great detail. Everything must be great everywhere.

Her jewels burst with color and pulsate with life as her delicate enamel work weaves its magic around rose cut diamonds, pearls and other gemstones. Although Sunita’s designs are inspired by traditional Indian jewelry, her designs are distinguished by their modern and attractive color combinations and outstanding craftsmanship.

Gazing at Sunita’s rich creations in her showroom in Jaipur, I try on a creamy honey bangle embellished with swirling gold flowers, rich patterns as intricate as silk embroidery.

The grassy green enamel on the pair of earrings and cuff bracelet is a refreshing take on traditional Indian bridal jewelry, and the diamonds are light as dew on this green canvas. The dark blue cuff is adorned with pearls, around which a lattice of delicate pink roses is woven.

Each piece takes over a month to complete and may involve around 45 different craftsmen and processes. Currently, Sunita sells her pieces mainly to Indians who appreciate bright colors and traditional shapes. But she hopes to sell them overseas as tourists show interest in her pieces, which stand out as some of the finest Indian jewelry.
